What is a hand pallet truck (manual pallet truck)?
A hand pallet truck is a manual pallet truck with two forks, a hydraulic pump worked by the handle and steer wheels at the front, used to lift a pallet clear of the floor and push it short distances by hand.
Our launch model is the 2500 kg Hand Pallet Truck, rated 2500 kg (2.5 tonne), with forks sized for Euro and UK pallets and a choice of polyurethane or nylon wheels. It is made to order at our factory partners for business customers: cash and carries, wholesalers, independent retailers, food distributors and warehouses.

Polyurethane or nylon wheels
Choose the wheel for the floor, not the load.
- Polyurethane: quiet, non-marking and kind to painted or sealed floors and cold rooms. The usual choice for a shop floor or food warehouse.
- Nylon: the easiest push on plain concrete and the most wear-resistant, but noisier and it can mark a soft floor.

Forks for Euro and UK pallets
The forks on our 2500 kg hand pallet truck are sized for Euro and UK pallets. Fork dimensions are confirmed in writing with your quote before the order is placed with the factory. Tell us on WhatsApp if you move wide crates or stillages. More in the guide under fork sizes and pallets.
Hand, semi-electric or electric pallet truck?
Buy a hand pallet truck for occasional short moves, as a backup, or where there is nowhere to charge. Buy a semi-electric pallet truck when the effort is pushing over distance but lifting is rare. Buy an electric pallet truck for all-day use, repeated tail-lift work and heavy drinks, flour or oil pallets.

Minimum order across the pallet trucks range
Minimum order applies. Mix models in the range to reach it.
One minimum applies to the whole pallet trucks range, so hand, semi-electric and electric models count together in any mix. A cash and carry that wants two pump trucks and one electric truck places one order. Trolleys, roll cages and scales have their own range minimums and do not combine. Details on minimum order.
How to order and delivery
Made to order at our factory partners and delivered to your door by pallet carrier. Typical lead time 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation. Deposit 30% on order, balance before despatch.
- Message us on WhatsApp or email sales@londonpallettrucks.co.uk with the model, wheel type, quantity and delivery postcode.
- We reply with a written quote: trade price ex VAT, delivery charge and lead time.
- Pay the 30% deposit and the order goes to the factory. Orders are not cancellable once in production.
- Pay the balance before despatch; delivery is kerbside by tail-lift, or by us inside the M25 where possible.
Sea freight is standard. Air freight is quoted on request. Open a trade account to apply for trade credit, available to UK limited companies and LLPs subject to checks.
Licence, training and PUWER
No licence is needed for a hand pallet truck. The employer trains the operator under PUWER 1998 regulation 9: how to enter a pallet, lift, steer and lower safely, and keeps a record. Need to weigh pallets?
We do not sell a pump truck with built-in scales at launch. To check-weigh a pallet, lower it onto a 2000 kg floor pallet scale and move it with the hand pallet truck. Message us on WhatsApp if a weighing pallet truck is what you need and we will tell you if it can be quoted.
Frequently asked questions
Is a pump truck the same as a hand pallet truck?
Yes, they are the same tool. Pump truck, hand pallet truck, manual pallet truck and pallet jack are four UK names for one manual hydraulic truck that lifts a pallet a few centimetres and is pushed by hand. Ours is rated 2500 kg. Electric pallet truck or powered pallet truck means the battery-driven version, which we also sell factory-direct.
How much does a hand pallet truck cost?
We quote trade prices ex VAT on WhatsApp rather than publishing them, because every truck is made to order at our factory partners and the delivery charge depends on your postcode and quantity. Send the model, wheel choice, quantity and postcode and you get a written quote before you pay anything, with VAT at 20% added on top.
Polyurethane or nylon wheels on a hand pallet truck?
Polyurethane for quiet, non-marking running on painted or sealed floors and in cold rooms. Nylon for the easiest push on plain concrete where floor marks do not matter and wear resistance counts. Both are offered on the 2500 kg model and either wheel counts towards the range minimum order. Tell us the floor and we will recommend one.
What fork size fits a Euro pallet and a UK pallet?
Our 2500 kg hand pallet truck has forks sized for Euro and UK pallets. Exact fork length and width are confirmed in writing with your quote before the order is placed with the factory. If you move wide crates or stillages, say so on WhatsApp and we will tell you what the factory can supply before you pay anything.
Do I need a licence or training for a hand pallet truck?
No licence. There is no statutory licence for a hand pallet truck in the UK. The employer must give basic instruction under PUWER 1998 regulation 9: show the operator how to enter a pallet, lift, steer and lower safely, and keep a record. Daily pre-use checks and a periodic thorough examination are recommended. We do not run training courses.
Does a hand pallet truck count towards the pallet trucks minimum order?
Yes. The minimum order applies to the pallet trucks range as a whole, so hand, semi-electric and lithium electric models count together in any mix, and both wheel variants of the hand pallet truck count. How long does a hand pallet truck take to arrive?
Typical lead time is 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation, because the trucks are made to order at our factory partners and shipped by sea. Air freight is quoted on request for urgent orders. The lead time and delivery charge are confirmed in writing with your quote, and you pay a 30% deposit on order and the balance before despatch.
Do you sell a 3000 kg or 1000 kg hand pallet truck?
Not at launch. The 2500 kg hand pallet truck is the only manual model in the range today, and it covers the pallets a cash and carry, retailer or food distributor moves by hand. If you need a 3000 kg heavy duty pump truck or a lighter 1000 kg model, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether it can be quoted.
Do you sell a hand pallet truck with scales?
Not at launch. Weighing pallet trucks are not in the range today. To check-weigh a pallet, lower it onto the 2000 kg floor pallet scale from our scales range and move it with a hand pallet truck. Message us on WhatsApp if a pump truck with built-in scales is what you need and we will tell you if it can be quoted.
