Cash and carry trolleys: 246 L narrow aisle and 5 wheel 1470 mm
A cash and carry trolley is a steel trolley with a deep basket or framed deck, built for wheeling full cases round a wholesaler, stockroom or warehouse. UK sellers also call it a stock trolley. We sell two cash and carry trolleys, both new and made to order at our factory partners.
- Narrow Aisle Cash and Carry Trolley 246 L, 1120 x 640 x 1055 mm. 1120 x 640 x 1055 mm, 246 litres, zinc plated steel with a powder coated finish, 125 mm (5 inch) rubber (TPR) castors. At 640 mm wide it is the narrowest trolley in the range and sits above the 240 litre size sold in the UK as the large supermarket trolley.
- 5 Wheel Cash and Carry Trolley, 1470 x 720 x 1030 mm, Zinc Plated. 1470 x 720 x 1030 mm, zinc plated steel. 350 mm longer and 80 mm wider than the 246 L trolley, for full cases and long boxes. The fifth wheel helps a long loaded trolley turn in an aisle.
Check the width of your tightest aisle in mm before you choose. The aisle width section of the buying guide explains why length matters at the end of a bay.
Stock trolleys for supermarkets, retail and warehouses
A stock trolley is the same family as a cash and carry trolley, used for shelf filling and order picking in supermarkets, independent retail, stockrooms and warehouses. Our stock trolley is the six wheel model.
- 6 Wheel Stock Trolley with Pivoting Centre Wheel, 125 mm Castors. 125 mm (5 inch) castors paired with a 100 mm (4 inch) pivoting centre wheel, so a long loaded trolley turns on the spot instead of swinging wide. Also sold in the UK as a fifth wheel trolley. Overall size, rated load and finish are confirmed with your quote.
Both cash and carry trolleys above also work as stock trolleys. Why the centre wheel matters is under castors and wheels in the buying guide.
Roll cages (roll containers, roll pallets, cage trolleys)
A roll cage is a steel cage on four castors used to move goods between delivery vehicle, stockroom and shop floor. Roll cage, roll container, roll pallet and cage trolley are four UK names for the same product.
- Supermarket Roll Cage (Roll Container), Zinc Plated, 125 mm Polyurethane Castors. Zinc plated steel, rust resistant for loading bays and yards, on 125 mm (5 inch) polyurethane (TPU) castors. Size, number of sides, rated load and nesting are confirmed with your quote. New only. We do not sell used roll cages.
The full cluster, with its own questions on sides, sizes and nesting, is on the roll cages (roll containers) page. The names are untangled under roll cage vs roll container in the guide.
Warehouse trolleys and stock trolleys for sale
Warehouse trolley is the general UK term for a wheeled steel trolley that moves cases, boxes and loose goods across a warehouse floor. Cash and carry trolleys, stock trolleys and roll cages are the three warehouse trolley types we sell, all new and made to order at our factory partners for UK business customers.
- For picking full cases from racking in a narrow aisle: the 640 mm wide 246 L trolley.
- For long boxes and bulk cases: the 1470 mm long 5 wheel trolley.
- For turning a loaded trolley on the spot: the 6 wheel stock trolley.
- For moving goods between vehicle, warehouse and shop floor: the zinc plated roll cage.
Rated loads in kg are supplied with your quote and never guessed. How to choose a rated load is under rated load in the guide.
Picking trolleys for warehouses and cash and carries
A picking trolley (order picking trolley) is a stock trolley used to collect an order from racking or shelves. In UK catalogues stock trolley, picking trolley and cash and carry trolley describe the same product. For warehouse picking choose the narrow aisle cash and carry trolley for tight aisles or the 6 wheel stock trolley where a long loaded trolley must turn on the spot.

Frequently asked questions
What is a cash and carry trolley?
A cash and carry trolley is a steel trolley with a deep basket or framed deck for wheeling full cases round a wholesaler, stockroom or warehouse. UK sellers also call it a stock trolley. Our range runs from a 640 mm wide narrow aisle model to a 1470 mm long 5 wheel model, all new, made to order for business customers. The full definition is in our buying guide.
What is a stock trolley?
A stock trolley is a wheeled steel trolley used to restock shelves and pick orders in supermarkets, retail stockrooms and warehouses. In UK catalogues stock trolley, cash and carry trolley and picking trolley describe the same family of product. Our 6 wheel stock trolley adds a 100 mm pivoting centre wheel so a long loaded trolley turns on the spot in a narrow aisle.
What is the difference between a cash and carry trolley and a platform trolley?
A platform trolley is a flat deck with a push handle and no sides. A cash and carry trolley wheels full cases round a wholesaler and has a deep basket or framed deck, often with a rear basket, and is built for narrow aisles. A stock trolley is the same family used for shelf filling. Choose by aisle width in mm and the load you move in one go.
What is the difference between a roll cage and a roll container?
None. Roll cage, roll container, roll pallet and cage trolley are four UK names for the same product: a steel cage on four castors used to move goods between delivery vehicle, stockroom and shop floor. Roll cage is the everyday word and roll container the catalogue word. Ours is zinc plated steel on 125 mm polyurethane castors, sold new only to business customers.
How much does a cash and carry trolley cost in the UK?
We quote trade prices ex VAT per order rather than printing them, because every trolley is made to order at our factory partners and the price depends on model, quantity and delivery postcode. Message us on WhatsApp with the model code and quantity and you will get a written quote with delivery and lead time. Business customers only, one minimum order across the range.
Do you sell heavy duty trolleys for warehouses?
Yes. All three trolleys are steel heavy duty trolleys for daily warehouse and cash and carry use, built to move full cases rather than loose goods. The 6 wheel stock trolley is the heavy duty warehouse trolley to choose where a loaded trolley must turn on the spot, on 125 mm (5 inch) castors. Rated loads in kg are confirmed in writing with your quote, never guessed.
Can I buy just one trolley or roll cage?
Ask on WhatsApp. One minimum order covers the whole trolleys and roll cages range, so any mix of 246 L trolleys, 5 wheel trolleys, 6 wheel stock trolleys and roll cages counts towards it. Send the model code and quantity and you get a straight written answer. We sell new equipment to business customers only, made to order at our factory partners.
How long does delivery of cash and carry trolleys and roll cages take?
Typical lead time is 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation, because every trolley and roll cage is made to order at our factory partners and shipped by sea freight. Air freight is quoted on request. Delivery is by pallet carrier to UK mainland addresses, kerbside by tail-lift, or by us inside London and the M25 where possible. Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland are quoted on request.
Can I rent roll cages or trolleys instead of buying?
No. London Pallet Trucks is sales only: new trolleys and roll cages at trade prices ex VAT, made to order for business customers. Buying is a one-off cost with no ongoing charge, and you keep a matching fleet with known castors and rated loads. For a one-off move, ask on WhatsApp and we will say honestly whether buying makes sense. We do not hire.
Should I buy new or used trolleys and roll cages?
Buy new if you want a matching fleet, fresh castors, a known rated load and paperwork for your risk assessment. Used trolleys and roll cages from auction sites cost less but often arrive with worn castors, bent frames and no paperwork, and mixed sizes do not nest. London Pallet Trucks sells new trolleys and roll cages only, at trade prices ex VAT.
Rubber or polyurethane castors: which should I choose?
Rubber (TPR) castors are quieter and grip rough or wet floors, so they suit loading bays and older concrete. Polyurethane (TPU) castors wear more slowly on smooth concrete and polished retail floors and are the usual choice where floor marks matter. Our 246 L cash and carry trolley runs on 125 mm rubber castors and our roll cage on 125 mm polyurethane castors.
Why does a stock trolley have a fifth or sixth wheel?
A pivoting centre wheel lets a long trolley turn on the spot instead of swinging wide, which is why 5 wheel and 6 wheel stock trolleys suit narrow cash and carry aisles. This design is also sold as a fifth wheel trolley. Our 6 wheel stock trolley pairs 125 mm (5 inch) castors with a 100 mm (4 inch) pivoting centre wheel.
