What is a semi-electric pallet truck?
A semi-electric pallet truck is a pallet truck with a battery-powered drive motor for moving forwards and backwards and a manual hydraulic pump to lift the forks.
The motor does the pushing. The operator pumps the handle to raise a pallet a few centimetres off the floor, walks the truck to where it is needed and lowers it with the release lever. It sits between a hand pallet truck and a fully electric model in effort and complexity.
Because the lift is manual there is no lift motor to charge or service, which keeps the truck simple. That is one reason cash and carries and wholesalers pick semi-electric for floor work.

Semi-electric, fully electric or hand pallet truck
Semi-electric wins when staff push loaded pallets over distance but lift only a few times a shift. Fully electric wins when they lift many times a shift or work all day on the truck. A hand pallet truck is the backup.

Licence and training
No licence is required to operate a semi-electric pallet truck in the UK. The employer must train the operator under PUWER 1998 regulation 9 and keep a record. Made to order at our factory partners and delivered to your door by pallet carrier. Typical lead time 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation. Deposit 30% on order, balance before despatch.

- Confirm in writing and pay the deposit. Orders are not cancellable once in production.
- Production and sea freight. Air freight quoted on request.
- Kerbside tail-lift delivery to UK mainland. London and the M25 delivered by us where possible.

Does a semi-electric truck lift electrically?
No. On a semi-electric pallet truck only the drive is powered. Lifting is by a manual hydraulic pump: the operator pumps the tiller handle to raise the forks and pulls the release lever to lower them. It is a low-lift truck for moving pallets, not for stacking. For powered lift, choose a fully electric model.
Does a semi-electric pallet truck need charging?
Yes. The drive motor runs from a rechargeable battery that is charged from the mains between shifts. Charge it between shifts so the drive is ready for the next one. Battery type, charger and expected run time for the 2000 kg model are confirmed in writing with your quote before you pay.
Is a 1500 kg semi-electric pallet truck available?
Not at launch. The 2000 kg Semi-Electric Pallet Truck is the only semi-electric model we offer, and 2000 kg covers grocery, drinks and flour pallets with margin to spare. If you need a lighter or lower-cost truck for the same work, compare the 1500 kg lithium electric model or a hand pallet truck. Ask on WhatsApp and we will give you a straight answer.
Where is a semi-electric pallet truck best used?
On a flat, smooth floor where pallets travel a long way and are set down at floor level: cash and carry aisles, wholesale order assembly, food distribution stores and warehouse replenishment. For long gradients, rough yards or repeated lifting, a fully electric truck is the better tool. Check the truck weight against your tail-lift rating before ordering.
Can a semi-electric pallet truck replace a hand pallet truck?
For floor moves, yes. The powered drive removes the pushing effort that makes a loaded hand pallet truck tiring over distance, and the pump lift works the same way. Most sites still keep a 2500 kg hand pallet truck as backup for vans, tail-lifts and tight corners. Both count towards the same pallet trucks range minimum, so mixing the two in one order is straightforward.
Is a semi-electric pallet truck harder to steer than a fully electric one?
No. Both are pedestrian trucks steered from a tiller. The difference is only in the lift: on the semi-electric you pump the handle to raise the forks, on the fully electric you press a button. Drive speed, braking and turning are controlled from the tiller on both, so an operator trained on one moves to the other easily.
